The Eurovision Song Contest is back for its 68th year, and the 2024 competition takes viewers to Sweden. We've compiled everything you need to know about how to watch Eurovision from anywhere in the world.

Created in 1956, Eurovision originally had just seven countries submit songs to perform in competition with each other. Now, more than 30 countries compete yearly (this year, 37 countries will participate). Fans and juries from competing nations vote to determine the ultimate winner each year. Sweden's Loreen won the 2023 competition for her song "Tattoo," and Ukraine and Italy won in 2022 and 2021, respectively. Ireland and Sweden hold the joint record for most Eurovision wins, with seven each.

The semi-finals kicked off the competition on Tuesday and Thursday, with 26 of the 37 competing countries making it to the next stage: the Grand Final. A winner will be crowned during Saturday's live event, which will see all 26 countries perform. The performances will kick off with Sweden and conclude with Austria.

With the exception of a 2020 Covid-related cancellation, the competition has been held every year since its inception, making it one of the most popular and longest-running non-sports-related annual competitions. If you can't wait to tune in, we've got you covered. Below, we have a breakdown of everything you need to know about watching Eurovision, including free live streaming options and a schedule for the week.

If you find yourself in an area where you can't access any Eurovision streams or hope to tap into one of the above methods, you can try out a VPN.

Short for virtual private networks, VPNs are handy tools to temporarily alter your device's virtual location so that you can access websites that vary in availability from region to region. VPNs are popular options for people looking to boost their online privacy and have access to their usual websites and apps while traveling. Interested in learning more?
