KIM KARDASHIAN PAIRS A METALLIC MAISON MARGIELA CORSET WITH A COZY CARDIGAN AT THE MET GALA
A platinum Kim Kardashian just stepped out on the 2024 Met Gala red carpet. Kardashian wore a metallic Maison Margiela corset dress and coordinating cardigan by John Galliano, proving that you can serve and stay cozy at the same. She was dressed for the evening’s “The Garden of Time” theme, as the gown featured a delicate leaf pattern.
Kardashian walked the red carpet by herself.
Last year, she wore a string pearl dress by Schiaparelli for the “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line Of Beauty” theme.
On The Kardashians, her daughter North shared her blunt opinion on the 2023 Met Gala ensemble during a FaceTime fitting. She liked it... but objected to the pearls. Kardashian told Schiaparelli’s creative director Daniel Roseberry, via Today, “This was the first time North said, ‘Oh wow, that’s beautiful.’” North did however also some constructive feedback, which prompted Roseberry to joke, “It’s like I’m being punked. The night before the Met—getting read for filth by a 9-year-old.“
Kardashian ultimately wore the dress, which had 50,000 freshwater pearls and 16,000 crystal pearls. She did lose some pearls though during the night, after a few strings on the bottom of the dress became undone.
Following the 2023 Met Gala, Kardashian spoke to Time about beauty standards and how long she plans to model lingerie for her SKIMS line.
She said, “I understand that maybe in my 50s I’m not going to be wanting to pose in my underwear and do campaigns all the time. Some days I feel confident, some days I don’t. I am mindful of that. Having a sustainable brand was always the goal. I love being a part of the campaigns, but I am very realistic that it’s not sustainable forever to be in every single one of them. I mean, I hope we all give ourselves as much grace as possible. We’ll do anything we can to look as young as we can. We’re not going to go out not trying, but I am realistic that there will be a time when I might do certain campaigns that are pajamas and robes and more covered up.”
